"I was expecting just a little more hellfire and brimstone," Wyatt said. "But the flickering torches are a nice touch."

"Run a spooky sound track, and you're all set for Halloween." Alanna said with a very forced smile.

"The demonic chanting is scheduled for 9:00," Wyatt said.

"Am or pm?"

"PM," Wyatt said. "If we hurry, we can get good seats."

"Possibly somewhere where I can stab easily. Or chop. Or burn. I'm not too picky." Alanna said casually.

"I'm all for you chopping and stabbing and burning," Wyatt said. He looked at Alanna's sword. "So, you're really good with that thing?"

Alanna smiled. It was not a happy smile. "His name is Lightning. And I'm still alive, aren't I?"

"Okay, maybe this is a bad time to ask, but...." Wyatt said. "You do any training with swords? Teaching others?"

"Yeah, I do. If you know Parker? She can now stab things without cutting herself. Bother me after we do this."

"I will," Wyatt said. "I kinda taught myself a little about using a sword, but I'd love to learn for real."

"Almost eight years of formal training." Alanna said, peering out. "And I'm stubborn as all hell."

"Sounds like a good combination," Wyatt said, looking around as well, hoping his mother would get there soon.
