Cole heard Phoebe's cry and emerged at the top of a pile of rocks some distance. "Phoebe?" he said.

The tongue switched from Anders to Phoebe and tried to wrap around her waist. Cole disappeared from the rocks and suddenly appeared at her side, grabbing hold of the tongue and wrestling it off of her. It squealed and withered in his grasp.
