With the powers he'd gained from vanquished demons, Bel was able to fight back against the Beast. But even with those powers, he was still tired and once again wondering why he was struggling so hard to survive. He was trapped here for eternity, and he didn't want to spend that time running for his life.

The tongue wasn't stupid. It ignored the fireball and lunged straight for Alanna. Why chase fireballs when you could go to the source of the power?

Alanna was a tiny bit disappointed that the tongue didn't go after the ball and held Lightning out in front of her, aiming to get the tongue on the sword.

The tongue didn't see the sword, unfortunately, so it continued its pursuit of Alanna. This was going to hurt.

Alanna braced herself so that the impact of the of the tongue wouldn't knock her over and made sure the sword was parallel to the ground.

And that would be the tongue accidentally slicing itself in half. Both halves flopped around for a moment, then fell still.

"....Eeeew." Alanna glanced around to see if anyone needed help or another tongue to play fetch with.
