Fandom High hallway, Wednesday after lunch

After visiting Allie at the clinic, Bel headed back to the dorms for his sixth period sociology class. He hadn't had a chance to talk to Dr. Grissom yet about his involvement in getting him out of jail, and he was eagerly awaiting the chance to thank him.

As he walked down the hall, he spotted Veronica heading to her own sixth period class. Bel looked around, saw no one was paying much attention, and grabbed Veronica by the arm, pulling her with him into the nearby men's room.

"Well, I'd say I'm glad you're out of jail, but considering you just accosted me, I'm re-thinking that," Veronica said, crossing her arms over her chest and glaring at him.

"What's the matter, don't you think turnabout is fair play?" Bel said, smirking. "After all, you pulled me into the girl's bathroom once, as I recall."

"What do you want?" Veronica asked. "I have a class in fifteen minutes."

"So do I," Bel said. "I can make it quick."

She looked at him expectantly as she leaned against the wall, her arms still folded.

"The blood you took from me, and the athame you found. What were the results of the tests, and who knows about it?" Bel asked.

"Grissom was able to prove that it was the weapon used against Allie and that you didn't do it," she said. "He found DNA evidence that someone closely related to you, a female, was involved though. A mother or sister, unless you're a lot older than I think."

Bel nodded. "So you two and the sheriff, that's all who know?"

"I didn't tell anyone but the sheriff. I can't imagine Grissom talking about it. So unless underneath that hard, metal exterior, the sheriff is a gossiping school girl, it's a safe assumption," Veronica said.

"Good," Bel said. "I know who did it now, and I'm going to deal with it on my own."

Veronica nodded. "Good for you, want a cookie?"

He ignored her comment. "You planning on telling anyone what you found out?"

"Why would I? It's none of my business."

"Just checking," Bel said. "And for what it's worth, thanks."

Veronica was mildly surprised that he thanked her. She shrugged it off.

"I knew you didn't do it," she said. "Which, by the way? Thanks ever so much for ratting me out to Angel. I didn't have enough to deal with, so the guilt trip just made my week."

Veronica raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? What did he do? Threaten to never kiss you again? How did he even know you had an alibi?"

"It just kinda slipped out," Bel said. "I wanted to make sure he believed me."

"Whatever," Veronica said, rolling her eyes. "Are we done?"

"Yeah, I guess we are," Bel said.

"Good, hopefully no one was attacked in the ten minutes we were in here because I'll be damned if I'm going to be your alibi again," Veronica said, pushing off the wall and heading for the door.

Veronica froze and turned to face him.

"Given what happened the night I asked you to do that? I'm thinking it's probably not a good idea. You haven't mentioned that to anyone, have you?"

Bel shook his head. "No, I haven't. Not even to Phoebe or Angel."

"Good, let's keep it that way," Veronica said. "And let's forget I even ever asked you. Obviously I was suffering from temporary insanity even thinking it was a good idea."

"Yeah," she admitted with a small smile. "And listen, I shouldn't have tried to blackmail you into doing that. You don't owe me anything."

"Yeah, I do," Bel said. "I wanted to kill you."

"And you stayed in jail for almost a week rather than spill my secret," Veronica pointed out. "I think we're even."

"Don't think this means you'll be getting invites to slumber parties. I'm not braiding your hair or painting your nails," Veronica said with a smirk.

"Oh. Damn," Bel said in mock disappointment. "I'll just have to learn to deal."
