demonbelthazor: (Bel is determined)
After Aziraphale conjured the portal to the Underworld, Bel, Phoebe, Isabel, and Cameron stepped into it.

The reddish stone walls of the Underworld formed around them. The narrow corridors were lit by torches set into the walls, and the air was uncomfortably hot.

The witch must've had a feeling she was being followed, the way she kept looking over her shoulder. She quickened her pace as she headed home from work, her breath making little white clouds in the cold evening air.

Bel's heart was pounding nervously. If he didn't kill the girl, his father's soul would be destroyed. But if he did kill her, Phoebe would never forgive him. It would prove that he was just a demon after all, not a man. Everything he'd gain since his first attempt to leave the Underworld would be lost. His friends, his respect...everything. His own soul would be lost.

Bel was glad the weekend was over.

Friday night, Phoebe had gone out to spend some time with Lana. But she didn't come home. After checking with Jim and finding that Lana hadn't come home that night, either, he'd gone looking for them. He didn't find them, but he did run into a group of trolls in town. When his fireballs had proven ineffective, and as he quickly realized they were as strong or stronger than he, he'd made a tactical retreat back to the school, joining the fighting there. Unfortunately, he was knocked out, but Anders had dragged him to safety.

The next morning, after the Doctor had announced they'd found the location of the trolls' captives, he'd immediately shimmered there to rescue Phoebe. Unfortunately, the females trolls looked deceptively innocent, and they'd knocked him out and tucked him away. When he'd finally awaken, he'd staggered out and found Phoebe, shimmering her and Blair to safety. Then he'd gone back to work out a little aggression on the trolls, before heading back to the dorms. Phoebe reassured him she was fine, but he still was upset he hadn't been able to better protect her or find her sooner.

He was pacing his room, still agitated, when flames surrounded him, and he felt the irresistible pull of a summons to the Underworld. He let the flames take him, unsurprised when he found himself before Raynor.

Bel paced the empty suite, trying to reign in the demon inside him. All this week he'd had difficulty controlling it. The slightest thing would set his temper off, and he couldn't stop himself from playing with Anders like he was some sort of toy. His demon side was in constant struggle with his human soul, and lately it felt like the human half was losing. It was worse than it had been over the summer -- ever since his last visit to the Underworld.

Raynor. He was responsible for this. He had to be.

Bel still felt guilty about using Cally the way he had, but he had to get the spell, and it was the fastest and safest option. He knew what Raynor was doing -- deliberately setting him up to betray his friends so they wouldn't trust him, would take away the support he needed to keep the demon half of him under control. And it was working. Piper must hate him, and if Cally found out how he'd abused her trust....

But he obediently shimmered to the Underworld to present the spell to Raynor. "Well done, Belthazor," his mentor said. "And much more quickly this time. I am pleased."

"What next?" Bel said shortly.

"You may have a few days to yourself," Raynor said. "I will send word to you when your services are required."

Bel started to turn away, and Raynor smiled. "I can feel the rage in you, Belthazor, but soon it will be directed where it should be."

He waved his hand in front of Bel's face; Bel flinched. "What did you just do?"

"Nothing," Raynor said. "Now go. I will summon you when I need you."

Bel bowed his head and shimmered home.
demonbelthazor: (*glare*)
Saturday morning, Bel shimmered to the Underworld to present the amulet to Raynor. Raynor was pleased, of course. "How did you do it?" he asked, accepting the amulet.

"Does it matter?" Bel said wearily. "You got what you wanted. Now give me what I want."

Raynor shook his head. "I'm not done with you yet, Belthazor."

"But you said once I got the amulet," Bel protested.

"I said once you had fulfilled your duties to the Underworld," Raynor corrected. "There is still work for you to do."

Bel sighed and dropped his head. "What next?" he asked.

"There's a spell in the Charmed One's Book of Shadows," Raynor explained. "One that activates the amulet when both pieces are joined. You will get the spell."

"I can't touch the Book of Shadows!" Bel said. "How am I supposed to do that?"

"You'll find a way," Raynor said, patting his shoulder. "I know you will."

"But the amulet is useless in the hands of evil," Bel pointed out. "What good will it do you?"

"Good magic can be perverted," Raynor said. "Just get me the spell."

"And then what?" Bel said. "Will you give me my father's soul then?"

"The only way you'll learn that is to do what you're told," Raynor said. "Remember who and what you are, Belthazor. You're a demon. You serve the Source, you always will. Nothing will change that. Now go, and bring me the spell."

"I will," Bel said unhappily. He shimmered back to Fandom, trying to figure out his next move.
demonbelthazor: (Contemplative)
After his morning class, Bel delayed as long as he could before shimmering to the Underworld in answer to Raynor's summons. But instead of going to the Brotherhood's usual meeting chamber, he instead stole through the dark maze of passages that made up the Underworld, ducking into the shadows to avoid detection when he heard voices near. He was close to Raynor's lair, and if he was lucky, he could find where his former mentor kept his father's soul and could take it and be done with this charade before it went too far.

demonbelthazor: (We all face demons)
Bel shimmered in to the familiar Underworld cavern, a place he hadn't set foot in for months. It was empty save for Raynor, waiting calmly. "Belthazor," he said. "I knew you wouldn't disappoint. This is, after all, where you belong."

"I came to tell you I'm not going to do it," Bel said, shaking his head. "I don't belong to you anymore." He steeled himself with the words of support from his friends and kept himself wary for any sort of attack from Raynor or the shadows around them. It wouldn't surprise him if Vornac was just waiting for an opportunity to take him down again.

demonbelthazor: (Worried)
When Bel shimmered back into his room, maybe two sheets to the wind from the beer and hard cider, a burst of flame greeted him. A rolled parchment appeared on the coffee table in front of the couch.

Instantly sober, Bel carefully picked up the parchment, knowing instinctively it had arrived from the Underworld. Reading it just confirmed his fears.

Belthazor -

I have an assignment for you, something that only your powers can achieve. I need you to retrieve a magical amulet, one that's hanging from the neck of a witch. You will report to me in two days.

I trust you will not disappoint me.

Raynor

The note vanished the same way it had appeared. Bel stood in the dark room, his heart pounding. If he did this, he'd be falling back into the clutches of the Underworld, not to mention disappointing and angering everyone who had put their faith in him. But if he didn't...he probably wouldn't live to regret it.

[Just establishing, not for interaction unless the girlfriend wakes up.]
demonbelthazor: (Sexy stare)
Bel wandered aimlessly through the halls, avoiding...everyone. Phoebe wanted her grandmother and oldest sister to meet him this weekend, and he still wasn't so sure about that. And he really didn't want to see all the happy reunions of parents and children that other people were having. Jealousy, he knew. After all, he didn't have a loving mother or father who wanted to see him. His father was dead, his mother was (thankfully) dead now, and the rest of the Underworld thought he was dead.

He sighed, his hands stuffed in his pockets, his head down as he rounded a random corner.
