Room 518/520, Saturday Morning

Phoebe woke up snuggled with Cole. She would've stayed there forever if it wasn't for the pressing need to use the bathroom. Resisting the urge for as long as she could, she sleepily disentangled herself from Cole and walked to the bathroom. She slipped down her pajama bottoms and was suddenly completely awake. That wasn't there last night. She looked down in horror at the decidedly male body part she had uncovered. Had her spell caused another backfire and turned her into a man? She yanked up the pajamas and moved to the mirror, staring at her reflection. Not just any man - she was Cole!

She hurried back to the bedroom and saw her own sleeping body on the bed. Carefully she at down next to herself. If she was in Cole's body, maybe Cole was in hers. She gently shook her shoulder. "Cole? Sweetheart? Wake up...."

After the week he had just been through, waking up and leaving the bed and Phoebe wasn't something that was in his plans. He mumbled something when he felt her get up, but then she was shortly back at his side. He heard her calling his name, so he opened his eyes, worried that something was wrong...

...and found himself looking into his own face.

"What the hell?"

"Is that you in there, Cole?" she asked anxiously.

This would be where he sat up and was now completely awake.

"Phoebe?"

"We swapped bodies I think," she said nervously. "Maybe someone did a spell."

"A... spell. One that switched our bodies..."

Cole shook his head. Things like this made it damn difficult to be good sometimes. However...

"Do you think it's another weird backfire from your spell?"

[demonbelthazor]

"I don't know!" she wailed. "It shouldn't be. That spell has run its course."

He reached out and pulled her to him, holding her close.

"Easy, sweetheart," he said comfortingly. "We'll figure out what happened and we'll get it straightened out, I promise."

Right now he'd do just about anything to take that distress out of her voice.

She hugged him, awkward with arms that were bigger and stronger than what she was used to. "Maybe someone else did a spell?" she suggested. "To steal your soul, like you tried with Angel?" She said the last reluctantly. "And that spell backfired?"

Being smaller than Phoebe was very disconcerting.

"Well... it could be possible," he said slowly. "But who here would want to take my soul?"

He didn't want to bring up that if he lost his soul that would be a good excuse for him to be vanquished.

"At least neither of us ended up somewhere else," Phoebe said, shuddering a little. "We just need to find a way to undo this. We should find Piper and check the Book of Shadows."

Cole nodded. "Yes, finding Piper and checking the Book would be a very good idea."

Yes, the idea that someone else might have ended up with their bodies didn't sit well with him and when he found out who cast this spell...

"Let's get dressed and go find her," Phoebe said. She gave Cole a kiss and stood up, heading instinctively to her own part of the closet. She pulled out a skimpy top, blushed a little, then returned it and moved to Cole's side. "This is so confusing!" she said.

Confused was just one of the emotions Cole was feeling as he got dressed. He pulled on a pair of Phoebe's pants, but got one of his own shirts as he felt more comfortable that way.

"I hope there is something in the Book to fix this or else I'm not leaving the dorms for a very long time."

"We'll find a spell," Phoebe assured him. "There has to be a way to fix this."

She took his hand. "How do I do the shimmering thing?" she asked.

Cole squeezed her hand and was again struck by the disconcerting size difference.

"Just concentrate on where you want to go and there'll you'll be."

He'd never tried explaining how to do what he did, he just did it.

Phoebe nodded and closed her eyes. "Piper's room," she whispered, and shimmered them both there.
