Behind City Hall, Friday night

Bel stalked out of the dance and walked behind the building. He took off his coat and dropped it on the ground, then lit up a cigarette and waited for Logan to come out, unless he chickened out.

This was gonna feel good.

Logan strolled out of the dance and shucked his own jacket, tossing it on a nearby bench. "Those thing'll kill you," he said.

Bel dropped the cigarette and ground it out. "That's just your wishful thinking talking," he said.

Logan circled around Bel, taking a fighter's stance. "What fun would that be?"

"Fun?" Bel said, watching Logan's every movement. "No, this is gonna be fun. Listening to your bones break, hearing you whimper in pain? Yeah, that's fun."

"I knew that 'good guy' act was a load of bullshit," Logan said.

Bel grinned. "Just for you," he said. "Nothing wrong with beating the crap out of a jackass like you."

"Lotta talking, no action," Logan said.

"You want action, I'll give you action," Bel snarled. His fist shot out toward Logan's face.

Logan was expecting the blow. He ducked down and aimed a punch at Bel's gut.

Bel twisted to avoid the punch. He snapped back around, this time throwing an uppercut at Logan's jaw.

Logan tried to dodge again, but Bel's fist caught the edge of his jaw. He swore and dove forward, tackling Bel around the waist.

Bel staggered backwards until he hit the wall, smacking the back of his head against it. He planted his hands on Logan's shoulders and tried to reverse their positions, attempting to pin Logan against the wall instead.

Logan struggled, but Bel managed to pin him. Logan lifted his right foot and attempted to slam it into the side of Bel's knee.

Bel grunted in pain, but didn't let Logan go. He moved his arm to try to pin it across Logan's throat.

Logan didn't have room to pull his arm back for a good, solid punch. So he slammed his head forward, aiming for Bel's nose.

Bel's head snapped back, and he took a few staggering steps back. He shook his head and brought his hand up to his nose, wiping away the trickle of blood. "First blood to you," he said, grinning. "But last is gonna go to me." He feinted toward Logan's stomach, then aimed a real punch at his jaw again.

That one Logan didn't see coming. Bel's fist connected with his jaw and pushed his face against the wall. Logan's world spun, and he braced himself against the wall to keep from falling.

Walter had stepped out for a cigarette and had the not altogether unwelcome chance to see someone shoving - was that Logan Echolls? - face-first into the wall.

Unfortunately or not, depending upon perspective, the person doing the shoving was Bel. Bel who had called Nadia a word that everyone is too polite to type.

His cigarette dropped forgotten to the ground as he ran to intercept Bel before he could hit Logan again. He was either breaking up the fight or starting a second front.

When Walter grabbed his arm, Bel tried to shake him off. "Back off," he snarled, trying to yank free so he could pummel Logan's face again. Because once was just never enough.

Spectator-ing

It was getting seriously warm in the dance, so Nadia stepped outside to cool down for a bit before continuing to try for the "more than half the songs" extra credit.

So of course she noticed the fight.

She stood back and watched, quietly rooting for whoever might be against Bel.

Walter pulled hard this time, trying to jerk Bel out of reach of Logan, but well aware that the guy who tries to stop these things often gets hit from both sides.

Bel was yanked away from Logan, so he turned and tried to shove Walter away. "Back. Off," he said through clenched teeth. "This is between me and him."

Logan had regained his footing enough to throw a punch at Bel's midsection.

There it was. Two guys now. Walter grabbed at Bel's arms when he shoved him to use his own momentum throw him. It had the added benefit of getting Bel away from Logan's punch. Provided Bel went where Walter was trying to get him to go, of course.

He did. "This doesn't involve you, Walter," Bel growled, circling around to try to get another shot at Logan. "Get out of the way so I can finish pounding his face into the bricks."
