Suite 518/520, Sunday Night

Bel was not hiding in his room. He was studying. Finals were coming up pretty soon, right?

It was just convenient that his room was an Anders-free zone.

So far, as near as he could tell, only a few people knew about his new status. Phoebe, of course, and he'd talked to Blair and Wilson. Marty knew, and it wouldn't be a jump to assume that he'd told Veronica what he'd done. But other than that, no one had approached him about it yet. So either they didn't know...or they were keeping their distance. Parker couldn't know, that he was sure of. She'd be kicking down his door by now if she did.

He picked up the remote and idly flipped through the channels on the TV. The second part of "King of the Bracelets" was on. That should be a suitable distraction. He briefly thought about calling Angel, but he wasn't ready to admit what had happened yet. There'd be time for that later.

Bel rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, this week is gonna be tough," he said. "You know, finals are coming up and all. Lots of studying to do."

Being avoidy? Of course not.

"Tell me about it," Anders replied. "I did have this one final project I was going to work on, Tuesday night. And then I got distracted," he added with a slightly awkward, but knowing smile.

Bel mentally flailed. He'd been doing that a lot. He tried to go into denial.

Nope. Wasn't working.

"You should, uh, get to work on that," he said. Of course, he didn't specify what that was.

And out came the Puppydog Face of Doom. "Well, yeah. That was why I was waiting, and all."

Bel had to avert his eyes from the PFoD. His mind raced with thoughts of what to tell Anders to explain. Sorry, it was the demon part of me that wanted to frak you, and now that part's gone, so, uh, yeah, it was nice, but it's not going to happen again, and if you say one word I'm going to kill you?

Somehow, he didn't think that would go over well.

"Sorry," he said lamely. "Maybe later?" Not that he meant it, but it was definitely easier than trying to explain.

"That's what you said earlier today," Anders said, the slightest hint of sullenness in his tone.

"It's just...not a good time," Bel said evasively. "I'm kinda, um...." He tried to come up with a good excuse.

"Busy studying for finals," Anders said dryly. "Right."

"I've got a rough course schedule this semester!" Bel protested lamely. It occured to him he wasn't even sure when his finals were, however.

"Yeah, you can be rough all right," Anders said, the corner of his mouth quirking mischievously. Then, trying to lighten the mood a little, he leaned in closer and said with a grin, "I mean, I could always tell you if you didn't frak me now I'd tell your girlfriend."

Anders licked his lips and laughed. "I kind of like to live, thanks. I might be getting des -- uh, that is, I'm not that mean."

Bel laughed nervously. "No, you're not," he said. "'Cause that would ruin things, wouldn't it?"

Nope, still weaseling out of it.

"Yep." Anders nodded, and no, he hadn't leaned back yet so he was probably still infringing on Bel's personal space. "Wouldn't want to do that."

"'Course not," Bel chuckled, inwardly darning his sinister attraction. But now he was worried that if Anders did get it into his head that he could blackmail him....

"Seriously," Anders said, licking his lips again (because he was just evil enough to enjoy how it made Bel flail). "Do I look like the kind of guy who would do that?"

"Oh, well, that was pretty obvious," agreed Anders. "And then you just sort of came and went, and . . ."

He shrugged, still smirking.

Bel coughed to cover his flailing. He cleared his throat. "Well, yeah, demons aren't big on cuddling afterwards," he said.

Anders? Pouting? Even subtly?

Because I got what I wanted and had no interest in returning the favor? "Maybe, uh, next time," Bel said. And then mentally smacked himself for implying there would be a next time.

He checked his watch. "Phoebe's gonna be home any minute now, so, uh...."
