OOC: Friends Locking Experiment, part the third

Okay! LJ tells me that there had been a bug in the admin console, but they fixed it in late June/early July. Unfortunately, it doesn't retroactively fix existing friends, so they said I would have to defriend and refriend everyone who I had added via the admin console before the bug was fixed. It must've been a bug that was introduced into the console at some point since people who were friended quite some time ago weren't affected (but the recently alumni were when they were defriended and refriended to the alumni filter).

Anyway, I purged my friends list and refriended almost everyone, so if anyone who couldn't see this locked post could try to view it again and let me know if you can now, I would appreciate it. I hit the 200 friend adding limit somewhere in the middle of townies, but all students, alumni, and teachers were re-added.

It's not a big deal if you don't lock posts as a rule, but if this works and if you're like me and want everything in working order (and might be locking naughtier posts), it's a good idea to purge your list and rerun the friending list. :)

ETA: Seems to have done the trick so far, yay!

I cut and paste the list of people I had friended into word and then just did a replace of ", " with "friend remove ". Trouble is, this won't defriend people affected by the bug because it will tell you you don't have the person friended. So it will narrow down the list considerably, but you'll have to do the rest on manual, or if you use Semagic, through there, which is a bit quicker.

I don't have needsaparrot friended yet -- LJ gave me the big ol' YOU HAVE TOO MANY FRIEND OMG notice right in the middle of townies. :( I'll re-add the rest tomorrow.

Also, FY-general-I, one big giant PITA with purging flist and re-using the friending list is, it kills all of your additional filters, like the ones used for preplays and such, so you have to manually re-create them. :-( (This also happens when people go from student to alumni, etc - using the admin console to add them to a specific filter removes them from all the *other* filters they were on.)

Ahhh yeah, it usually does pitch a bitch right around the time you hit the townies part of the friending list.

*nodnod* Fortunately, in my case at least, my preplay filter is just whomever I'm preplaying with at the time; I just update it as needed. But other filters, yeah, must go in and fix. Stoopid admin console.
