Cole didn't linger after Sociology; he headed immediately for the attic, pacing as he waited for Phoebe. The demonic kittens were curled on the couch, watching him through half-closed eyes. The contract Phoebe had signed with Crowley lay on the coffee table in front of the couch. He'd destroy it in front of her and let her be done with this nonsense about marrying Crowley.

"Then the contract was mine and I ended it," Cole said firmly. "Still think Crowley is such a great guy when he tried to convince you he put your life on the line? You're a lot of things, Phoebe, but stupid isn't one of them. I don't understand your obsession with Crowley, but it ends now, got it?"

Phoebe turned to him and frowned. "Trying to give me orders, Cole? You lost that right when you threatened to kill my best friend and decided to put the lives of my sisters and friends in danger with this mad quest of yours."

"It's not a mad quest," Cole said through gritted teeth. "You just don't understand."

"No, I do understand," she said angrily. "Your desire to bring back Captain Bloodbath is more important to you than anything," she spat. "At least my promise doesn't end up in people getting killed! Your loyalty to Angelus and your hate for Crowley drive you more than anything else can even hope to, Cole."

She shook her head. "Why... why are you so determined to do this?"

"Why are you so determined to believe someone who proudly declares he lies?" Cole shot back.

"Because I know what he is," she snapped back at him."I know he lies and I know he could break me into a thousand pieces if he wanted to. I've see what he can do to someone, Cole. I've seen it up close and personal."

She shook her head.

"I hate this. I ahte all of this. I want to come home and just..."
