Cole woke before Phoebe for a change. He quietly got dressed then headed out to the kitchen to make coffee. Eyeing the stove warily, he decided to attempt to make pancakes to surprise Phoebe.

Fifteen minutes later he had some lumpy pancakes on the griddle that were anything but round. And flour all over the counter and himself.

In theory, the pancakes were edible. In theory.

"We don't want to cause an alarm or anything," Bel said, "but yeah, Parker should probably know. Who knows, maybe she can dig up something in Special Collections that can help you out."

He almost made a face. Not long ago suggesting talking to Parker would've been ridiculous.

"Kay, see, here's the thing - " Angel said. "I don't want to."

"Okay," Bel said slowly, "but if she finds out, she'll stake you. Not that I'll let her or anything. And I certainly won't tell her if you don't want her to know, but Logan might say something."

"And hitting!" Angel said, pouting. "And you know I'm just not up for one more person thinking that the problem here is that I had sex with Logan."

"Well, if you were a little more specific than" -- Bel made the nebulous hand motion -- "that, maybe people wouldn't think so. Besides, Veronica would kick your ass." He tilted his head, thinking. "You should probably be careful around her anyway," he added.

Angel facepalmed yet again. "I already told her Logan and I didn't have sex."

"Can you go for five minutes without saying Logan and sex in the same sentence?" Bel said. "It's making me nauseous. Anyway...Angelus went after Rory to get to Logan, didn't he? So stands to reason that if he is trying to get out, he could go after Veronica to do the same thing." Bel shrugged. "She probably smells like Logan, too, to you." He made a face. "Eww."

"Yes, thank you for reminding me because until this point I had forgotten," Angel said, giving Bel a look so dry that the tide on the beach went back by few feet. "And I couldn't help it! I thought she was asking. Which... turns out she wasn't so... awkward. See this is why I don't like talking to people. I didn't have these kinds of problems when I lived alone. I think Cal is vastly underestimating the hermit plan."

"There's always that, but your life would be so boring without me around, wouldn't it?" Bel said with a grin, trying to banish the comment about Rory.

"Plus there's all the physical comfort benefits you'd miss," Bel said. Pause. "From Callisto, I mean."

"You wouldn't be much of a hermit if you had someone with you," Bel pointed out. "So just stick with Plan A -- avoid Logan like the plague."

Bel nodded. "And John, Callisto, and I can run interference if need be." After trying to wrap his mind about why this was happening to Angel, the simple thought of telling Logan Angel didn't want to see him made Bel almost giddy.

"Perfect!" Angel stood up. "Excellent plan. I wouldn't change a single detail. Let's go with that."

"What classes do you have that he's in?" Bel brought up before Angel could go. "You gonna be able to deal with that?"

"ACJ and Campaigning," Angel waved it off. "Cal's in both. Had 'em yesterday. Things went fine. Look at the time gotta go."

Yes, he was hoping to leave before Bel noticed a detail was missing from the plan he'd just agreed to. Nobody ever said Angel was mature.

Angel inched towards the door. "Yeah but how often does that happen, really?"

Bel looked at Angel curiously, then shimmered between him and the doorway, blocking the way out. "Why are you so anxious to get out of here?" he asked. "Afraid I'm gonna remember to tell Parker or something?"
