South Attic, Thursday Morning

No, Bel wasn't hiding. He was just...avoiding. Avoiding classes, avoiding people, avoiding everything.

He was also trying to get himself in the right frame of mind to take Veronica on a trip to the Underworld. Not a stellar idea, but if she wanted to go, he could hardly refuse her.

After visiting the underworld with Veronica, Bel returned to hide out in the south attic. He sensed a witch nearby when he heard the knock. It wasn't Phoebe; she would come right in. So it was Kiki or Paige or...Piper.

"Come in," he called hesitantly.

"Hey," Piper said quietly when she walked into the attic. She could tell this was going to be awkward.

Bel braced himself, but he still flinched a little when he saw her. He still bore the marks of her attack on his face and body. "Hey," he said in reponse to her greeting.

Piper felt even more guilt when she realized the marks on his face were caused by her. "I, um, I stopped by to see how you're doing."

"I'm okay," he said, dropping his head to avoid her gaze. "This'll all heal in a few days."

Piper wasn't so sure the mental wounds she caused would heal in a few days. "I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am...for everything."

"You don't have to apologize," he said. "It wasn't your fault."

[absolutesnark]

"But I still feel responsible," Piper said. "I remember what I did. I hurt people I care about. And...I can remember wanting to kill. It wasn't a good feeling."

It was, however, a feeling Bel was all too used to. "It was the demon in you doing all those things," he said. "Not you."

That wasn't really helping to alleviate the guilt Piper was feeling. "I guess."

She looked at him. "How are you? Really?"

"I'm fine, really," he lied, not wanting to give her more to feel guilty about. He forced a smile. "Just a little embarrassed to have been beaten up by a girl."

That got a smile out of her, though it might have been a little forced as well. "I won't tell anyone."

"I think it made the radio," Bel said lightly. "The mighty Belthazor has ass kicked by girl, film at 11."

Piper couldn't help laughing slightly. "At least you're not the only one."

[demonbelthazor]

"True," Bel said, though inwardly he was flailing a bit about the thought of what Piper could've done to Angel. Had done to Angel.


[ooc: scurrying home from work in a few.]

"It could have been a lot worse," Piper said. "I could have killed someone and I would have been lost, too. You put yourself in danger to help me and I won't forget that."

"After what I did to you, I owed you that much," Bel said. "I'd do it again."

[absolutesnark]

"That's good to know," Piper said. "You really are capable of a lot of good."

[demonbelthazor]

"I'm not so sure about that," Bel said, ducking his head again.

[absolutesnark]

"You are," Piper said adamantly. "You didn't have to risk your life to help me, but you did anyway. Because you knew it was the right thing to do."

"I just wish I could do more," Bel said quietly.

"I have a feeling you will."
