OOC: How I'm playing Belthazor/Cole
Sep. 27th, 2005 12:34 amAge: According to canon, Belthazor/Cole was born January 19, 1885. For the purposes of FH, I've taken a century off his age. So he is 20, born in 1985.
History (slightly modified/embellished from canon): Cole's mother, Elizabeth (aka Elishevara), was a demon assigned to seduce and manipuate a human congressman, Benjamin Turner. She lived with him for several years as his wife and was shocked to find herself with child. Such a thing should not have been possible without magical intervention, but in January of 1985, a son was born, fortunately for her in human form. Benjamin gave the boy his middle name, Coleridge, but Elizabeth named him Belthazor. In 1988, Elizabeth's mission was declared finished, and she murdered Benjamin Turner. She would have killed her chid as well, but the Source of All Evil declared him "special" and ordered Elizabeth to return to the Underworld with him. Disgusted by her half-breed son, Elizabeth gladly handed him over to Raynor, the leader of the Brotherhood of the Thorn, the Source's inner council, for training.
Cole was raised by Raynor with several other young demons the Source had selected. He was trained in how to use his powers, martial arts, and magical knowledge. He made his first kill at the age of 10 when several witches were captured and brought before the Source. The young demons of the Brotherhood were ordered to kill them so that they would develop a taste for killing. Belthazor was the only one who hesitated, and that earned him a severe punishment. After that, he learned to banish his human feelings, especially when other demons taunted him for his human blood, telling him it made him weak. He became ashamed of his human side and worked twice as hard to prove himself to Raynor and the Source, learning to be a cold-blooded killer and wracking up an impressive amount of kills.
Recently, the Seer, a visionary who served the Source, saw the rise of the Charmed Ones, three powerful witches who would oppose the Source. Their power, the Seer said, would be difficut to overcome, and sublty would be required. So in preparation, the Source ordered that Belthazor be sent to Fandom High to get back in touch with his human side so that he might be abe to use it to his advantage and get close to the Charmed Ones when they were finally found.
Personality: At this age, Belthazor is cocky, arrogant, and very eager to prove himself as a powerful force of evil. He craves luxuries and the pleasures in life, due to his rather spartan upbringing in the Underworld. He also desperately wants the approval of his superiors and his peers and resents his father for giving him a human soul and human feelings he thinks he doesn't want. However, life among humans is beginning to affect him, especially in the form of Phoebe Halliwell (some things are just meant to be). Without understanding how or why, he fell in love with her. If and how this will change him remains to be seen.
Powers: Half-demon and half-human, Belthazor can teleport himself from place to place by "shimmering." He can summon and throw "Flaming Balls of Death" and "Flaming Balls of You Will Fly Back 10 Feet and Hit a Wall and Be Unconscious Now , Yes?" [TM TWoP]. He can also summon an athame (dagger) to his hand. He has some skill with sorcery and occasionally TK when the writers remember it. Even not in his demonic form he is stronger and tougher than a normal human. He can be sorely wounded, but a Power of Three spell/potion is required to finish him off. His demonic form is about a foot taller and 100 lbs heavier, and his skin is red with black markings. Think Darth Maul on steroids.
If anyone wants to pull something from Cole's background and bring it into play, all I ask is that you please talk to me first. You can reach me at Belthazor FH on AIM or BelthazorFH @ gmail.com. I am certainly very open to twists and surprises, but we do have some plot threads in progress that ideas might need to be integrated into. For instance, Cole has no idea that Phoebe and her sisters are the Charmed Ones...at this time. So if someone has reason to tell him, I'd appreciate a warning first! ;)
PS: Brad Kern is the devil, and we will not speak of Charmed S5 and beyond. *spits*
