Suite 518/520, Friday night

Since Phoebe had gone to bed early, Bel hung out in the living room of their suite, idly flipping through the channels on the TV and contemplating his courses from that week. Pop Culture would be useful for understanding some of the phrases and references his classmates made that went over his head. Criminal Justice was interesting so far. It kinda went with the hero thing. He'd survived Hunting 101 and Ethics unscathed, and was now considering adding a fifth class; he'd talk to Phale on Monday about adding Prophecy. Never knew when that kind of knowledge might come in handy, particularly with a prophetic girlfriend.

He was feeling an almost distressing need to impress his teachers, two in particular. He idly contemplated ways to do this as he continued to flip though the channels.

He should probably tell Phoebe his plans for Saturday night at some point, too.

"Yeah, because all this time I've just been hanging on in the vain hope that you'd notice me," Anders said dryly.

"That why you agreed so easily to put on a dress?" Bel asked. "Hoping I'd rip it off you later?"

"Does it make you feel better about yourself to think that?" asked Anders with a snort.

"It always makes my ego swell when I know how hot and bothered people are by me," Bel said.

"Just your ego?" Anders's eyebrow was in severe danger of breaking atmosphere any minute now.

"You tell me, that's what you're staring at, isn't it?" Bel said.

"You wish I was," retorted Anders.

"It's not wishing when I can see it plain as day," Bel said.

"Oh, Bel, Bel, Bel," Anders replied, taking a step forward as he shook his head. "It's so cute when you're deluded."

"If I'm so deluded then why are you invading my personal space like you're hoping I'm going to grab you and kiss you?" Bel said, arching an eyebrow.

"Just wanted to see how you'd react." Anders patted him on the shoulder and took a step back. "Very secure. I'm impressed. Too bad I don't look more like Angel, huh?"

"Who?" Bel said, moving forward again.

Anders took another step back. Okay, two. "Vampire. Broody, hair gel, the one you followed around with the puppydog eyes?"

Bel followed. "Think you got me confused with somebody else," he said.

Anders took another step back. "I've seen you flail over him enough. I don't forget things like that."

"New year," Bel said. "Guess I've moved on."

"New year, my ass, it's only September!" Anders yelped.

"New school year," Bel clarified, and grinned. "Funny how you just brought your ass into this conversation."

"Funny how you noticed," Anders answered, backing up another step or two. "Thought you were trying to be good."

Bel followed Anders down the hall. "I'm very good," he said.

Anders kept backing up. "And you think I should just take your word for it?"

"And here I was thinking you came here for proof of your own," Bel said.

"Thinking?" asked Anders. "Or hoping?"

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Bel said, the smirk never leaving his face.

Anders stopped backing up and took a step or two forward instead. "What if I do?"
