Suite 518/520, Thursday morning

Bel anxiously paced the living area of the suite. Phoebe was in her first period class, and he knew she had another third period, but maybe she'd come back in between. He was still bristling from Nadia's yelling at him in the common room last night (not to mention being unexpectedly forced into demon form by John Winchester in Hunting 101). Probably not the best mood to have any sort of discussion in, but yeah, they had to talk.

Phoebe came in after her first period to drop off her Myth notes and to grab her books for James' Philosophy class. She planned to go back to the assistants lounge to study, but her mind changed when she saw Cole pacing the living room.

She stopped, holding her books. "Cole?"

"Hey," he said, a little gruffly.

"You okay?" she asked softly.

[demonbelthazor]

"What the hell did you say to Nadia yesterday that had her jumping my shit last night?" Cole said as calmly as he could muster.

Phoebe could feel the anger from him and although confused, she was annoyed by it.

"She asked me why I was upset and I told her I had pissed you off."

"What did you expect?" Cole said. "You threaten me in front of a room full of people and I'm just supposed to take it? Then you sic Nadia on me? I'm not happy."

Okay, now that wasn't how she viewed it at all.

"You... you..." she sputtered, trying to speak through her own raising temper. "I wasn't threatening you and I wasn't even mad at you until you acted like a damn hyprocrite." She glared at him. "And I didn't sic Nadia on you."

"Well, she took it into her head to attack me last night," Cole snapped.

"What did she say?"

[demonbelthazor]

"She said you were upset and started attacking me because of it," Cole grumbled.

[sensethevisions]

"I was upset. I am upset," she said with a frown. "I needed someone to talk to since you were being... well, you." She sighed. "She told me that I needed to try talking to you about it again."

She dropped her books onto the table.

"What did you expect?" Cole said. "You threatened me! I suppose it's the human thing to just stand there and smile and take it? I'm not gonna do that."

"How in the hell did I threaten you?!" She demanded with a glare. "I simply asked how you would feel if I started kiss other people to make them flail or for harmless fun."

[demonbelthazor]

"You kiss anybody and I kill them," Cole growled.

No, he wasn't possessive. Not one bit.

[sensethevisions]

"Then stop! Stop kissing other people! It may be fun for you, but it hurts like hell, damn it. Is it too hard for you to accept that I want to be the only one you're kissing? Cole, I don't want to kiss anyone but you, but you seem to think that kissing other people --- for whatever reasons --- is fun and okay!"

[demonbelthazor]

"It was just once and it didn't mean anything!" Cole snapped. "You're over-reacting!"

Cole remained blissfully unaware of the concept of irony.

Phoebe was beginning to wonder when Cole had decided to play a rousing game of Poke the Witch?

"I'm over-reacting? Cole, you're kissing people that are not me. Then, when I ask how it would make you feel if I did the same thing you get all grrr..."

Phoebe had stopped trying to control her temper and her fists were clenched at her sides.

"I already told you," Cole said. "I'd kill him."

"So... does that mean I should go and beat the hell out of Blair and Anders because you can't keep your lips to yourself?" She threw a pillow at him, so angry she was shaking.

She really wanted to smack him... or kick him in the shins, one of the two.

"I didn't kiss Blair!" Cole growled.

[sensethevisions]

"Sex Ed!" She snarled. "He was wearing mime paint and being goofy. You wanted to make him lose his composure."

[demonbelthazor]

"Oh," Cole said. "Yeah, right. Forgot that." He glared sullenly.

[sensethevisions]

"Yeah." She glared right back.

[demonbelthazor]

"I already told you I was sorry," he snarled.

[sensethevisions]

"Sorry that you did it or sorry that I'm hurt and pissed off at you?"

[demonbelthazor]

"I'm sorry that you're hurt," he said. "Didn't mean to."

[sensethevisions]

"Then no more, Cole. I meant what I said. It's not right for you to go around kissing other people -- no matter what the reason -- and then say if I borrow a page from your book I'm threatening you and you'll kill them."

Yeah, she was still angry.

[demonbelthazor]

"Whatever," Cole growled.

[sensethevisions]

Phoebe was so angry that she didn't think, she just reacted. His tone and everything he was saying and the way he was acting just caused her temper to snap.

She wasn't aware of what she had done until she heard the sound of her hand connect with his face.

When she realized what she had done, Phoebe stepped back, her face paling and her eyes wide.

"Cole... I didn't mean to..."

Fuck.

His eyes darkened and he stepped after her, drawing back his own hand. But before a blow could fall he caught himself and pulled back, staring at her with a horrified look on his face.

Phoebe was just as stunned. "Cole."

She shook her head, tears in her eyes. "I... I'm sorry."

She grabbed her books and turned for the door.

He retreated to the far side of the room, unable to look at her.

[sensethevisions]

"I'm sorry," she said again. "I didn't mean..."

She shook her head and opened the door. She looked at him for a long moment, unable to believe what had just happened, and then left the suite.
