Suite 518/520, Monday Evening

Bel stared at the tarot cards on the table in front of him. He drew one from the deck, scowled at it, and summoned a fireball to set it on fire. He tried another card and did the same thing, then another, then another. Finally he threw the rest of the deck across the room and sank back down on the couch with a sigh. Stupid cards. Didn't mean anything anyway.

He knew he shouldn't have reacted the way he had to Joxer's stupid attempt to provoke him or when Phale had talked to him afterwards, but his temper had gotten the better of him. It'd been doing that a lot lately. Now he had detention the day after Homecoming. Great. Not the way he planned his day to go, but when he'd reluctantly shared his disturbing dream of the night before and gotten mockery as a result, his mood had rapidly gone downhill.

Knowing if one more person pissed him off today he'd take their head off, he canceled the SSG meeting. Better he just hole up here and wait for his mood to get better.

Maybe Phoebe would be home soon.


[Door is closed but knockable. But the demon is cranky. ;) ]

Cole moved quickly before her and took her in his arms, holding her tightly. He felt some of the darkness in him drain away. "I missed you," he murmured into her hair.

Phoebe clung tightly to him and let the tension just drain away from her right now.

"I've missed you so much, Cole. So much."

He drew her towards the couch so they could sit down together, but he never let her free of his embrace. "You're back now, and that's all that matters," he said.

Seraphim and Valkyrie jumped up on the couch and butted their heads against Phoebe, begging for attention as well.

Phoebe petted the cats, but never moved away from being held by Cole. She stayed curled up against him, feeling safe.

"I'm glad to be back."

He touched his hand gently to her face. "You sure you're okay? You're up for going back to classes and everything?"

Phoebe nodded. "I needed to come back and try to get back into my life."

"You'll be safe here, I promise," Cole said. "I won't let anything or anyone hurt you."

Phoebe nodded. "I know, love. I know you won't."

"You need anything?" Cole asked. "You want me to get you anything?"

Phoebe shook her head. "Don't leave... just... just hold me like this for awhile?"

He tightened his arms around her. "I can do that," he said, grinning at her. "No problem."

They sat in silence for a few moments, then Cole said, "Hey, can I ask you something?"

Phoebe curled into him, allowing herself to relax.

"Of course you can."

"What to go to Homecoming with me?" he asked, kissing the top of her head.

Phoebe blinked at him. "Yes. Homecoming is kind of a special night for us, isn't it?"

"Mmm hmm," he agreed. "And I want it to be an extra special night Friday." He just had to find the right spells....

Phoebe smiled at him. "I'm sure it will be special," she said softly. "I'm just happy we'll be together."

He snuggled against her for a long moment, then frowned and said, "I have detention the next day, though."

Phoebe looked confused. "What happened?"

Cole shrugged. "Ask Phale, he's the one who gave it to me," he said.
