Suite 518/520, Monday Evening

Bel stared at the tarot cards on the table in front of him. He drew one from the deck, scowled at it, and summoned a fireball to set it on fire. He tried another card and did the same thing, then another, then another. Finally he threw the rest of the deck across the room and sank back down on the couch with a sigh. Stupid cards. Didn't mean anything anyway.

He knew he shouldn't have reacted the way he had to Joxer's stupid attempt to provoke him or when Phale had talked to him afterwards, but his temper had gotten the better of him. It'd been doing that a lot lately. Now he had detention the day after Homecoming. Great. Not the way he planned his day to go, but when he'd reluctantly shared his disturbing dream of the night before and gotten mockery as a result, his mood had rapidly gone downhill.

Knowing if one more person pissed him off today he'd take their head off, he canceled the SSG meeting. Better he just hole up here and wait for his mood to get better.

Maybe Phoebe would be home soon.

"He made fun of you?" Phoebe was a little annoyed with that information. She wrapped her arms around him. "What was your dream about?"

"I was in the Underworld," he admitted slowly. "Coming up behind a demon to kill him. But when he turned around it was me, and he killed me instead."

Phoebe sucked in a breath and then let it out slowly.

"A dream like that..." she swallowed. "You don't make fun of something like that," she said quietly.

"Tell that to him," Cole grumbled. "If he crosses my path I'm gonna make him regret it."

Phoebe cradled his face between her hands. "Relax, love," she said softly. "I'll talk to Joxer. You let me take care of that, okay?"

"I don't want you talking to him," Cole growled. "I can deal with this myself."

"My temper is harder to provoke," she said quietly.

"So?" Cole said. "He deserves to have the crap beaten out of him."

"Cole, Joxer is not a fighter. Look at him. You going after him would be like... well, like someone warrior woman coming after me to kick my ass."

"Yeah, he's pathetic," Cole agreed. "But he's also an ass and deserves to get taken down."

Phoebe shook her head.

"He probably has no understanding of what he's done, Cole. Joxer is harmless and he's from a time far into the past." She nuzzled him. "Let me talk to him before you get yourself into trouble."

"I'm already in trouble," Cole grumbled. "Detention, remember?"

"It could get much, much worse," she reminded him softly.

Cole smirked. "Only if I get caught," he said.

Phoebe gave him a look. "I don't plan to spend our senior year with me making conjugal visits to you in prison, love."

Cole sighed. "Whatever. I'm not going to hunt him down, but if he crosses my path or smarts off to me again, I'll deal with him."

Phoebe kissed him.

"Mmm," he murmured, kissing her back. "I've missed that."
