Bel had woken up before Phoebe that morning. After he got ready for classes, he settled on the couch, fiddling with his new purchase from yesterday.

Phoebe woke up and got ready for classes before she came out into the living room.

"Morning love."

"Morning, sweetheart," he said, tilting his head back for a kiss.

He may have tried to slide the gun under a couch pillow.

Phoebe bent down to give him a kiss, but she saw something.

"What's that?"

"Nothing?" Cole said, giving her a quick kiss to distract her.

Phoebe pulled back and looked at him.

"That so doesn't work, Cole."

"It's a Christmas surprise?" Cole was grasping at straws, yes.

She had practice with him, yes.

Phoebe shook her head. "Cole..."

"It's nothing to worry about, really," Cole assured her.

Phoebe gave him the Look(tm).

"What are you hiding?"

Cole sighed and pulled the gun out from under the pillow. "This," he said.

Phoebe gasped and stepped back... way back.

"What is that doing here?"

"I bought it yesterday," Cole said. "So I can protect you. And myself."

Phoebe swallowed, forcing herself to look away from the gun and look at him.

"You don't need that, Cole. It's... it's not a good idea."

[demonbelthazor]

"Oh, come on, you see worse than this when you go up against demons," Cole protested.

"Wrong. I see demons intent on killing me, not weapons that can accidentally hurt me... or that a man held on me and threatened to kill me with."

She looked at him. "Get rid of it."

"Look, I have to have a way to protect myself, and the one I love!" Cole said.

"And who's going to protect us from the gun?"

[demonbelthazor]

"I know how to handle it!" Cole insisted.

[sensethevisions]

"Not around me," she said softly. "I cannot live in the same place as a gun, love."

[demonbelthazor]

"Why not?" Cole said.

He may have been pouting a little.

"I'm afraid of guns, Cole, and they're dangerous as hell."

[demonbelthazor]

"I can handle it," Cole said. "I'm just not gonna be defenseless around this place, okay?"

Phoebe looked at him sadly. "You don't need a gun to defend yourself around here, Cole... and I won't stay here if the gun is here."

"Phoebe!" Cole whined.

[sensethevisions]

She shook her head. "No. I'll ask Lana if I can stay with her, or I'll find somewhere else to stay."

"You can't!" Cole said sulkily.

[sensethevisions]

"Can't I?"

[demonbelthazor]

"Phoebe!" Cole pleaded. "C'mon!"

Phoebe shook her head adamantly.

"Either the gun goes or I do, Cole," she said firmly. "I will not live in the same place as that thing."

"I'll get rid of it," Cole finally capitulated, scowling. Eventually.

Phoebe scowled back. "I'll come back to our rooms when it's gone... permanently."

"Fine," Cole said. He picked up the gun and stuffed it into his pants. "I'll deal with it after class."
