Room 540, Tuesday morning - NFB

The Source flamed into an empty room on the 5th floor. Simple shape-changing wasn't a good idea for him at the moment, not without having to take out whomever he was impersonating permanently, which could possibly be discovered and lead right back to him.

Fortunately, he had another option available.

He pulled out his cell phone and called Blair.

Down in 409, Blair was having a very serious discussion with his fish about sharing food amongst themselves when the phone rang. Giving the fish a last stern look, he reached to pick up the phone.

"Hello, Broots and Blair's room!"

"Blair, it's Bel," he said urgently. "I need to talk to you."

"Oh, man. Are you okay?" Blair lowered his voice. "I got this email from Parker last night that was talking all sorts of evil stuff."

"I'm...not okay," Bel said, doing his best to sound confused and desperate. "I'm not certain what's going on. But you have to believe me, I'd never hurt anyone willingly."

Blair frowned, Bel didn't sound good at all. "I...I believe you, man. But you need to be careful, I think there are a lot of people out looking for you."

"What can I do to help?"

"I'm upstairs," Bel said. "Room 540. I just want to talk to somebody, to try to explain what's been happening. Can you come up here?"

Of course, he'd be ready to blaze out in a second if Blair brought anyone with him.

"You deserve a chance to explain your side." Blair knew that this wasn't the best idea ever and that if Parker knew what was going on she'd thump him over the head. Which was why he decided not to let anyone know that he was going to go. "I'll be right up, man."

"Great, thanks Blair," Bel said. "This...means a lot to me. I'll be waiting."

He hung up the phone and waited for Blair, prepared to make an escape should Blair tell anyone he was there.

Blair didn't tell anyone that Bel was in the school or that he had called. But that didn't mean he didn't prepare himself in case something went wrong and he dug into his backpack to grab a bottle of water. He hightailed it up to the fifth floor and knocked on the door to 540.

"Hey, it's me. Shoot, we should have come up with a code word." Blair frowned. "The eagle has flown the coop!"

"Door's open," Bel said, backing a few feet away, just in case. "Come in."

Blair opened the door and held the water bottle out in front of him as he entered, shutting the door behind him quickly. "No offense, man. You aren't going to try and flambe me, are you?"

"Of course not," Bel said, trying to look hurt. "You're my friend. Why would I ever want to hurt you? There's just been some sort of huge misunderstanding..."

"Sorry, man." Blair said, lowering the water bottle. "Parker's email said that you're a danger. That you attacked people...Angel. What's going on?"

"It wasn't me," Bel protested. "It was someone who...just looked like me. Someone trying to set me up or something."

"Like a clone or something? That totally sucks, man." Blair shook his head. "Why would they do that?"

"It could be demons trying to get revenge for my betrayal of the Underworld," Bel said. "But...you can help me, Blair."

"I'm so sick of the underworld." Blair rolled his eyes. "They just need to get a life and leave you alone."

"Anything, man. I'm happy to help." Blair nodded and bounced. "Need me to make some signs? Or mediate a meeting between you and the school or something?"

"No," Bel said, smirking. "You can just be your innocent self." He took a step toward Blair, his form changing to something akin to wispy grey smoke. Stepping into Blair, he disappeared.

"What does that-" Blair's eyes widened as Bel changed into smoke. There wasn't time for running away or even stepping back before the smoke was upon him and he shook for a moment, half bent over.

Raising up, the Source took a look around and breathed deeply. This was going to work nicely.
