The Wastelands, Saturday evening Fandom Standard Time [NFB]

With the powers he'd gained from vanquished demons, Bel was able to fight back against the Beast. But even with those powers, he was still tired and once again wondering why he was struggling so hard to survive. He was trapped here for eternity, and he didn't want to spend that time running for his life.

"Oh, wait, I'm not sure I'm ready to meet the parents, man." Blair said, trying to plant his feet and tug backwards.

Another maw opened up in the sand in front of Blair, and the tongue pulled harder.

Blair blinked and then turned towards his friends. You know, the ones that weren't human-curious giant tongues.

"HELP!"

Alanna ran up to where Blair was having some trouble. "HEY!" She tossed a fireball a few feet to the right of the tongue. "Go, fetch!"

This tongue fell for the same trick, letting go of Blair and hurrying after the fireball so it could gulp it down. Then once it had swallowed it, it turned its attention back to Alanna and Blair.

Alanna grinned and tossed another fireball for the tongue to go after. "Blair? Get behind me. Now."

Blair frowned at Alanna. "You know, I was mostly doing okay before on my own. No need to get all cavewoman on me."

"Yeah, that's why you were screaming for help." Alanna grabbed Blair by the collar and shoved him vaguely behind herself and waited for the tongue to come back.

Blair flopped backwards onto the sand and glared up at Alanna. "It was more of an alert system. Kind of like 'ooh, look at this giant teethy mouth over here, don't you want to come see?' sort of thing"

Alanna ignored Blair and waited for the tongue to remember them.

The tongue really liked the taste of Alanna's magic and wanted a whole lot more. It sped towards her.

Alanna braced herself once more, sword in front.

The tongue tried to avoid the sword this time and loop around Alanna's legs.

"Oh come on!" Alanna kicked at the tongue.

The tongue tried to jerk Alanna off her feet, intending to drag her into the gaping maw.

Which would be when Alanna got sucked back into her body.
