Suite 518/520, Wednesday after lunch

Bel was in too good of a mood to work, so he left the construction site after lunch and headed back to his room. Currently, he was standing in the living room, finishing a frustrating and somewhat confusing phone call with Angel, while the cats looked on, bemused.

With Bel no longer at the construction site, Anders didn't really have much reason to stick around (because he was so not ogling Conner). So back to the dorms and back upstairs it was -- sparing a couple of pats for Seraphim and Valkyrie, which was much less weirdtastic than it had been on Saturday, but might never quite be the same again.

He caught sight of Bel on the phone and raised an eyebrow at the side of the conversation that he was hearing.

Bel flipped his phone shut with a sigh. He turned around and saw Anders. "Oh, hey," he said. "How are you doing?"

Anders folded his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow. "What was that all about?"

"I was talking to Angel," Bel said.

Up went the eyebrow. "Uh huh," Anders said deliberately. "Dare I ask why?"

Just because a spell didn't have any personal gain backlash didn't mean it couldn't come back to bite you in the ass, apparently.

Bel shrugged a little. "I guess I thought it was time to tell him how I felt about him," he said. "I don't think he understood, though."

Oh, for -- he hadn't asked Savannah to do this so Bel could tell Angel how he felt!

"Great," he said, his tone a little flat. "For trying to tell him, at least."

Bel gave Anders a curious look. "Something wrong?" he said. "Are you okay?"

Anders shook his head in the most unconvincing way possible. "Fine. I'm fine. How come he gets to know?"

"Gets to know what?" Bel said. "How I feel? I thought we talked about that last night. . . ."

"Sort of? A little? Maybe?"

Anders dropped onto the couch and ran his hands through his hair, flustered and wondering if this whole spell had been a Really Bad Idea.

"So . . . you like him more than me then, huh?"

Bel frowned and sat down next to Anders on the couch. "No, it's just different," he said. "What I feel for him, or for Phoebe, or for you, it's all different."

Anders suddenly found a tiny hole in the knee of his jeans fascinating, and started picking at the threads. "Do you lo -- I mean . . ."

Argh.

"Do I love you?" Bel said, tilting his head. "I do, you know that."

"I --" Anders looked at him for a very long moment, agape. "You never say so, and I wasn't sure," he said finally.

"I don't?" Bel said, surprised. "I should."

Little mental fistpump of victory.

"It'd be nicer than you just saying you know every time I say it," Anders said, already starting to blush like a huge dork.

"I'm sorry," Bel said. "I guess I didn't realize that you wanted to hear it."

"Dork," Anders said affectionately. "'course I do."

"I'll try to be better about it, promise," Bel said.

"It's just nice to hear it," Anders told him, slinging an arm around his shoulders.

"I'll say it more often," Bel promised.

Anders leaned over and kissed him. "Seriously, just hearing it from you is a lot."

"I really mean it," Bel said, kissing Anders back.

Anders pulled back and, a little cross-eyed with goofy happiness, grinned at him. "I know," he said. "I love you too."

"Dork," Bel said, cuffing Anders lightly.

"Your dork," Anders pointed out.

And since Bel was in such a schmoopy mood, why not take advantage of it and try to curl up in his lap?

"Mine," Bel agreed, not at all having any problems with the snuggling.

"And don't you forget it." Anders closed his eyes and snuggled up happily against Bel. Yeah, this was definitely good.
