Veronica exhaled a deep breath before responding. "I just found out that I have to testify tomorrow in a trial back home. Is there any way you could take me there and bring me back in the evening?"
"Trial?" Bel asked. "Sure, I can do that, no problem. I'm all done with classes and shimmering across the continent between dimensions doesn't take me long at all."
"I know. But I can't not show up. My testimony can help get him thrown in prison forever. Besides, I never told my dad about any of that stuff. I have to do this."
"No, my dad will be there and a number of armed deputies. Besides, he wouldn't try anything in front of the cameras that will no doubt be there. But thanks."
"Leave around 10 our time tomorrow morning?" Veronica asked. "That's 7 out there and will give me time to shower and change since I'm almost out of clean clothes. Thank God I left some stuff in my closet."
