The Mighty Belthazor

"She probably orbed herself to the clinic, Piper," Bel said. "They can take care of her there."

"But the arrow is poisonous," Piper said, trying to calm down. "Can they fix that?"

"Sure," Bel said, deciding now was not the best time to tell Piper that her sister just might linger in agony for several hours before dying if another whitelighter didn't heal her. "They healed Angel, didn't they?"

A scornful voice floated down the tunnel before them. "My son, working with a Whitelighter. Is there no limit to the depths to which you will sink?"

"He came from you," Angel said, keeping a close eye on Bel's mother. "Really there's nowhere to go but up."

"Angelus," Elishevara said with a sigh. "I told Raynor a vampire couldn't be trusted. You were supposed to make Belthazor a stronger demon, not make him even more pathetic and weak."

"And last I checked," Angel said, deliberately pitching his voice to sound more Angelus-like, "I don't check to see whether or not my actions meet with your approval. There's a whole 'not giving a crap' issue to deal with."

"Then what have you been doing with my son since you claimed him?" Elishevara said. "Not training him, obviously. I'm told he does have other uses, though, perhaps that is why you wanted him to be yours?"

"Oh this is getting boring," Piper said, rolling her eyes. She pulled the vanquishing potion out of her pocket, getting ready to throw it at her.

Elishevara caught the motion. "What do you have there? For me? You shouldn't have." She flicked her hand out, sending Piper flying back several feet.

Piper flew back, crashing hard into a cavern wall. Once she fell to the ground, the potion vial rolled out of her hand. And she groaned in pain.

While Elishevara was focused on Piper, Angel aimed a punch towards the side of Bel's mother's head.

From:

Elishevara's head snapped back, but she kept her footing and laughed. She summoned an athame to her hand, but the blade did not have the gleam of metal. It was carved from wood. She stabbed at Angel's chest.

Angel leapt back out of the way of her blade. He tried to aim a roundhouse kick towards her knees.

Bel had conjured a fireball at his mother's approach, but hadn't yet had a clear shot to throw it. At least that's what he told himself, and maybe even believed it. It had nothing to do with freezing up when having to face down his mother for the first time in his life.

Elishevara shimmered away from Angel's kick, reappearing further down the tunnel. "Belthazor," she taunted, "are you going to just stand there uselessly? Or are you going to save your witch? Or maybe it's too late and I already killed her."

While Elishavara was distracted, Piper reached for the vial. She was still in a lot of pain, but she wasn't going to allow the demon to hurt her sister.

That was when Phoebe screamed. "Piper? Cole?"

She had heard fighting and she had felt so many approaching emotions, so she knew something was going on. That was when she had heard Elishvera call Cole's name.

"Guys? I'm here!"

Elishevara turned around and grabbed Phoebe by the hair, yanking her up and holding her in front of her so that Bel, Piper, and Angel could see Phoebe. "I told you I would destroy everything you care about, Belthazor," she said. "If you value that miserable soul of yours so much, then let it cause you as much pain as possible until you're begging to be free of it." She conjured a fireball and held it by Phoebe's face.

Phoebe had one thought in her head suddenly when the ball of fire is held at her face. Her voice was a whimper.

"Fire bad... tree pretty..."

Seeing Piper, Cole and Angel... and realizing that they were there to get her, she fought past the terror she had been going through since the kidnapping and slammed her head backwards into Elishvera's face.

Elishevara snarled and thrust Phoebe away from her, dropping her to the ground again. Not to let the fireball go to waste, she hurled it toward Angel.

Angel dove out of the way. The fireball hit him on the shoulder, but fortunately ~~he wasn't shirtless like some people~~ he had on the leather coat that night.

Seeing his mother threaten Phoebe and then attack Angel gave Bel the resolve he needed. He shimmered behind Elishevara, wrapping his arms around her, pinning her own arms so she couldn't summon fire or cast a spell.

"Piper! Throw the potion!" he yelled as he struggled with his mother.

Nadia, Veronica, and Faithful all rushed in after killinating the rat demon, but stopped before reaching the fight royal.

Piper hesitated. She knew if she threw the potion, there was a good chance Bel would end up vanquished. But she pushed that thought out of her mind and did what she had to. She threw the potion as Bel had instructed her to do.
