After a trek to the western portion of Fandom Island, Our Heroes reached the entrance to some old sea caverns. There were several tunnels heading off in different directions. Bel was fairly certain which one led to his mother; she was really making no attempt to hide. But there were other demons lying in wait down the side tunnels as well, and they couldn't afford to have them come up behind them.

"Okay," Bel said, trying to be all leader-like. "Group one is Cam, Molly, and Alanna. You take the tunnel on the far left. Group two is Bridge, Isabel, Walter and Camulus. You take the tunnel to the near left. Group three takes the right hand tunnel and is John, Ivanova, Pip and Pippi. Angel, Piper, Paige, and I are going down the middle. We'll meet up back here. Is everyone all set?"

Pippi? Better wall than a window. Not much John can do but unlimber his machete, check weapons, and wish for a bazooka. He checks their 6.

"Pippi . . ." Ivanova said in a low, warning voice, the PPG coming up and pointing directly at the demon. So the knife didn't work. Maybe it would burn. That is, if Pippi got out of the way and she could get a shot . . .

The demon laughs. It is an evil laugh, because, you know, evil demon. Makes sense, right?

It steps forward and reaches out a hand to grab Pippi by the neck.

Pippi ducks to the right, under the demon's arm, and makes a grab for it.

"Not one for a parlay huh? To bad, I love to parlay."

The demon allows this grabbing of the arm. Then it tries to jerk Pippi off her feet.

It might not be a terribly smart evil demon.

The moment her hands make contact with the arm Pippi works to use the upward motion against the demon. Pushing with it and then pulling it around.

She twists her body to bring the side of the demon's torso against her back and then over onto the ground.

If that works that is.

Pippi's and the demon's strength are evenly matched. They are at a standstill as they battle for dominance.

Pip darts around Pippi, two more large knives appearing out of nowhere. He moves to slam one into the demon's throat.

The knife slams into the demon's throat. He doesn't bother removing it this time, but grabs for Pip instead.

Pip leaps back and accidently hits the wall, flinching at the impact. Yeah, that was going to bruise. He brings out another knife and looks to Ivanova and John, hoping one of them had a clear shot.

John, cursing his 'ladies first' comment, lashes out with the machete on the demon's hand holding Pip, trying not to hit anyone else in the confined space.

The demon's hand came off at the wrist and dropped to the floor. It's wrist began to writhe and shift immediately as it very slowly regenerated the hand.

Okay, that? Wasn't right. Ivanova darted in closer, firing off several shots at the demon's shoulder and knee in rapid succession, hoping to take at least some of the thing out of commission.

"Burn, baby, burn," she hissed as the PPG zipped and crackled.

The shots crackled and smoked, burning small holes clear through the demon, until his arm and shoulder seemed only barely attached.

The wounds starting closing over almost immediately.

Pip darted forward, bringing out another large knife. He hacked away at the shoulder and arm where the demon was healing repeatedly in an attempt to remove them.

After a few moments, his arm is off. The demon hisses at Pip, obviously right well pissed off, and tries to jerk Pippi over into Pip.

His shoulder writhes and bubbles, trying to regenerate the arm.

Pippi was lifted off the ground. She couldn't draw her saber but she did notice a big ol' knife sticking out of the demon's neck.

In the hope that it would slow her down and keep it from hitting Pip with her, she grabbed onto the knife.

The demon snarled ~~not unlike a tracheotomy patient~~ as the knife sliced open a good half of its neck. It released Pippi, and the wound began to slowly close over on each side.

On its severed shoulder, the beginings of an arm can be seen forming.

John cursed. Actually, he was keeping up a steady current of cursing, but that's not the point.

This is the point, and it's on the end of the machete going into the arm of the demon.

"Shoot it! Shoot it!"

The beginnings of the arm dropped off. The demon snarled and lurched towards John.

Ivanova obliged with relish now that Pippi was out of the way. She emptied an entire cap into the thing, snarling when she realised that it wasn't actually having much effect. "Chyort!" she bit out, dropping back, fumbling in her pocket for a second cap, the spent one dropping to the ground.

"I don't think this is working . . ."

It wasn't. Well, except that the demon changed direction and lurched for Ivanova.

"Sorry Papa." Pippi mutters as she dropps the knife.

She turns and lowers herself down into a crouch. With one hand she grabs for the demon's ankle, with the other she draws her sabre and brings it up.

Little girl grabbing his ankle and hacking at him: also suckage.

Grabbing little girl at his ankle and twisting her little braided head off: priceless.

If he could just, you know, grab her. Stupid arm being off. . . .

Pippi still had a hold of his leg, and saw him twisting around to grab at her with his one good arm.

So she was pulling his leg.

Not that she was telling him an untruth by way of a joke...

She actually pulled his leg.

Hard.
