Western Fandom Island, Friday night

After a trek to the western portion of Fandom Island, Our Heroes reached the entrance to some old sea caverns. There were several tunnels heading off in different directions. Bel was fairly certain which one led to his mother; she was really making no attempt to hide. But there were other demons lying in wait down the side tunnels as well, and they couldn't afford to have them come up behind them.

"Okay," Bel said, trying to be all leader-like. "Group one is Cam, Molly, and Alanna. You take the tunnel on the far left. Group two is Bridge, Isabel, Walter and Camulus. You take the tunnel to the near left. Group three takes the right hand tunnel and is John, Ivanova, Pip and Pippi. Angel, Piper, Paige, and I are going down the middle. We'll meet up back here. Is everyone all set?"

Michael laughed at the witch trying to protect her sister.

"You think that will do any good?" he asked. "You can't protect the half-breed." He cast a glance in Bel's direction. "Either of the half-breeds."

Without warning, he swung his crossbow around so it was pointing directly at the vampire and fired.

Angel moved to duck but, well, there was that whole 'without warning' thing. It'd be a darned shame for his franchise health if that arrow connected with a heart-type object.

Piper threw her hands out, freezing the arrow before it had a chance to connect.

Bel moved over and knocked the frozen arrow out of the air before it could unfreeze and continue on its path. "That all you got?" he taunted the darklighter.

Michael shot another arrow.

This one split in four as soon as it left the crossbow, one aiming at each of the people in front of him.

Piper froze the arrow that was aimed directly at her, but she didn't have time to freeze the others. She watched in horror as the other arrows made their way to their targets.

There's total fear in Paige's eyes as the arrow comes towards her, she has to orb to away from her, it's her only option, "arrow," she says wiliing to orb to the side of her and fall to the ground.

Bel wasn't expecting an arrow to come at him. Hello, demon, arrow was pretty pointless. So he was surprised when one flew at him. He dodged to one side, but the arrow grazed his left shoulder, leaving a long bloody gash.

Angel, on the other hand, was ready. He grabbed the arrow out of the air, then immediately flung it back, pointy end first, at the demon.

Michael orbed the arrow away from himself and it clattered to the ground uselessly.

"Nice try," he sneered at the vampire.

He aimed the crossbow at the whitelighter and shot again, this arrow splitting in two, both flying at her torso.

Paige froze as she saw the crowbow aimed at her, quickly she orbing an arrow towards him not noticing the second one that hit her in her stomach, she winced at the pain and cursed, she had no idea what to do. Doubting the clinic would be able to fix her she orbed herself to the only place she could think of, the Manor.

Michael wasn't expecting the half breed to orb one of the arrows back at him and he looked down in surprise when it hit him in the shoulder.

"You won't win, Belthazor," he managed before exploding in a shower of black particles.

"Paige!" Piper cried frantically, fearing the worst. She couldn't help it when tears began to form. She had no idea where Paige had gone.

"She probably orbed herself to the clinic, Piper," Bel said. "They can take care of her there."

"But the arrow is poisonous," Piper said, trying to calm down. "Can they fix that?"

"Sure," Bel said, deciding now was not the best time to tell Piper that her sister just might linger in agony for several hours before dying if another whitelighter didn't heal her. "They healed Angel, didn't they?"

A scornful voice floated down the tunnel before them. "My son, working with a Whitelighter. Is there no limit to the depths to which you will sink?"

"He came from you," Angel said, keeping a close eye on Bel's mother. "Really there's nowhere to go but up."

"Angelus," Elishevara said with a sigh. "I told Raynor a vampire couldn't be trusted. You were supposed to make Belthazor a stronger demon, not make him even more pathetic and weak."

"And last I checked," Angel said, deliberately pitching his voice to sound more Angelus-like, "I don't check to see whether or not my actions meet with your approval. There's a whole 'not giving a crap' issue to deal with."

"Then what have you been doing with my son since you claimed him?" Elishevara said. "Not training him, obviously. I'm told he does have other uses, though, perhaps that is why you wanted him to be yours?"

"Oh this is getting boring," Piper said, rolling her eyes. She pulled the vanquishing potion out of her pocket, getting ready to throw it at her.

Elishevara caught the motion. "What do you have there? For me? You shouldn't have." She flicked her hand out, sending Piper flying back several feet.

Piper flew back, crashing hard into a cavern wall. Once she fell to the ground, the potion vial rolled out of her hand. And she groaned in pain.
